SpeakerPacket (“SpeakerPacket,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates speakerpacket.com, a membership platform where professional speakers build a speaker packet, publish a public profile page, and maintain a verified record of their speaking engagements (the “Service”). SpeakerPacket is operated by Kenyon Salo LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. SpeakerPacket is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
Questions about this policy or your information: contact us at support@spverified.com.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, username, and a hashed password. If you join a paid plan we also record your plan, cohort (for example a Founders Club rate), and membership status.
Packet content. Information you add to your speaker packet: biography, headshots and photos, session titles and descriptions, fees you choose to display, testimonials, video links, documents you upload, and similar profile material. You choose what to include and what to publish. Content in a published packet is public by design.
Verification records. When you ask a bureau, event organizer, or fellow speaker to confirm an engagement, we collect the contact’s name, organization, and email address, plus the engagement details you submit (event name, date, location, role) and the contact’s response. Verification on SpeakerPacket is authentication only: a confirmed engagement means the contact confirmed it happened. It is not a rating, grade, endorsement, or quality judgment of any speaker.
Billing information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe provides us with a customer reference, the last four digits and brand of your card, and your subscription and payment status.
Email list information. If you join the Founders waitlist or another email list, we collect your email address, name if you provide it, and any referral name you provide. Email is managed through ActiveCampaign.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting and security providers record server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and operations. We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Analytics cookies load only with your consent where consent is required.
Information from third parties. If a bureau or event organizer confirms or disputes an engagement, we receive that response. If someone refers you to the waitlist, we may receive your name and email from that person so we can invite you; we will identify the source when we first contact you where required.
2. Why we use your information, and our legal bases
- To provide the Service (account, packet hosting, publishing, verification requests, billing, member support). Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service, including preventing fraud and abuse, debugging, and understanding aggregate usage. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in running a secure and useful service.
- To send transactional email (account notices, verification requests and confirmations, billing receipts, dunning notices). Legal basis: contract and legitimate interests.
- To send marketing email about SpeakerPacket, including the Founders waitlist. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every marketing email.
- To comply with law, including tax, accounting, and lawful requests from authorities. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- Analytics and embedded media (Google Tag Manager and video embeds). Legal basis: your consent, collected through our cookie banner before these technologies load. See the Cookie Policy.
3. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the service providers (processors) that run the Service, and only for the purposes above:
- WP Engine: website hosting.
- Cloudflare: content delivery, DNS, and security (including bot management).
- Google: Google Tag Manager and embedded YouTube players, active only as described in the Cookie Policy.
- Vimeo, Inc.: embedded Vimeo players, where a speaker links a Vimeo video in a packet.
- Stripe: payment processing and billing.
- ActiveCampaign: email list management and email delivery.
Published packet content is public and visible to anyone who visits your packet page, including search engines if your packet is set to public. Verification contacts receive the engagement details you ask them to confirm.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing. Analytics sharing is described in our Do Not Sell or Share page, where California and Colorado residents can opt out; we also honor Global Privacy Control signals automatically.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required.
4. International transfers
SpeakerPacket is based in the United States, and your information is processed in the United States. If you access the Service from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your information is transferred to the United States. Where required, we rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and the UK and Swiss extensions) for providers that are certified under it, including Google and Stripe, and on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards with our other providers.
5. How long we keep information
- Account and packet information: while your account is active, and for up to 12 months after you close it, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Verification records: while the speaker’s record is active; confirmed engagement facts may be retained in anonymized, aggregate form after account closure to preserve the integrity of confirmations already given to third parties.
- Billing records: as required for tax and accounting, typically 7 years. Stripe retains payment records under its own policy.
- Waitlist and marketing email data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or after 24 months of inactivity.
- Server and security logs: typically 30 to 90 days.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information (erasure), subject to the retention limits above.
- Receive a portable copy of information you provided.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, including through the Cookie Settings link in our footer.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising (California, Colorado, and other states with similar laws). We do not sell personal information; see the Do Not Sell or Share page.
- Appeal a decision about a privacy request (Colorado and other states that provide appeals).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (EEA/UK residents) or your state attorney general.
To exercise a right, email support@spverified.com. WordPress account holders can also use the data export and erasure tools under Tools in the WordPress admin, which include SpeakerPacket data. We respond within the time required by applicable law (30 days under the GDPR, 45 days under California and Colorado law, extendable where the law allows with notice to you). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Children
The Service is built for adult professional speakers and the organizations that book them. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us information, contact support@spverified.com and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use TLS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date above, post the new version on this page, and, where required, ask for fresh consent for new uses. The version of our cookie consent choices is tracked in the consent cookie described in the Cookie Policy; a material policy change resets that version and the banner will ask again.
